Who we are? We are John and Carola Jansen and breed, trainen and participate in sheepdog trials for many years now with our dogs. Working with and training of Border Collies has become an almost daily task for us. Almost, since we also have a hurd of sheep whom as you understand also need to be taken care of and young promessing talent which need to be trained at the sheep regulary. Both of us have almost whole of our lives been surrounded with dogs, cats, horses, cows and sheep. John has been a blacksmith for 28 years, but needed to stop this work due to its very hars physical conditions. It was during his work as blacksmith that he met the border collie for the first time. A client introduced him to the breed and she also got him his first Border Collie bitch, from Aled Owen in Wales. Soon one dog was not found enough when running in trials. After this first dog came Chad Dutch Highland's Famke, found by entering the trial competition and meeting Geert Reinders of Dutch Highland Famke. After Chad, many dogs have come and many have stayed with us. Normally good sheep dogs are not for sale, thus breeding ourselfs helps us to find the best combination which would fit John. We are already on the way to the top, but it remains difficult to find a "good" pup for yourselfs. The "click" needs to be there as a combination and we keep looking for better dogs from our own lines. John breeds his own dogs now and trains with them to the competition level in where they compete now. Another important point for us is that we like to see our "breeded" pups to arrive at places where they can fully exploy their posibilities.
Besides breeding and participating in sheepdog trials, John is also a FCI certified judge for trials. He already brought his knowledge to many national and international trials.
Carola has focussed on breeding and raising of pups. Competing in trial is impossible for her due to her irregular working hours, often in the weekends. Finally there is our trainingcentre, where we see the dogs of our trainees grow to good working dogs, much to our pleasure.
